Jui-Tsz Shiu will be working at Witte Rook from May 9th. The results of the residency will be shown in a presentation, open to the public Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of May, from 13:00 to 17:00.
Jui-Tsz Shiu is a visual artist who interprets her understanding, memory and corporeality of places, through her artworks. Shiu combines installation, video and sculpture to create fictions or actions in order to recall and approach these perceptual experiences and fantasies. Simultaneously, she observes flows and projections of the place that is in-between cognition and reality. Her recent work explores the mental processes of (new) immigrants who are crossing places, by taking to spatial matters as a metaphoric and symbolic form of spirituality.
