The travels of Marta Polo: Valkenbergpark

Artist in Residence Donglai Meng schreef tijdens haar residency travel notes genaamd ‘The travels of Martha Polo. Tijdens haar expositie publiceren we dagelijks een van haar notities.   

Looking at the map, you’ll be amazed by the rhythm of Valkenberg, these winding paths crisscrossing the dense woods—you may not feel anything special when you walk through them, but when you turn into a bird and fly towards the sky to look down on the green, the melody of symphony will play all around you. Surrounded by this romantic atmosphere, I also captured some of the personalities hidden beneath it – the shape of the lake in the park center looked like a middle finger on the map. This left me in indescribable awe of Valkenberg. I tried to see Valkenberg as a human being, then it looked like a kind auntie who was gentle and friendly, but also actually a rock kid with strange tattoos.
