Wilhelminapark

Het kunstvisietraject voor het Wilhelminapark in Breda is op 6 oktober van start gegaan met een zonnige herfstwandeling. Samen met de geselecteerde kunstenaars en verschillende betrokken bewoners van het park is er een begin gemaakt met het ontwikkelen van een nieuwe visie voor kunst binnen de thema’s; ecologie, licht, audio en symbiose.

Op de Open Call die op 4 september sloot zijn veel reacties gekomen, dat maakte het selectieproces extra moeilijk. Met veel plezier stellen we de kunstenaars aan je voor. 

Kunstenaarscollectief de Onkruidenier is opgericht in 2013 en het team bestaat uit Jonmar van Vlijmen, Rosanne van Wijk en Ronald Boer. Het collectief onderzoekt historische, culturele en potentiële transformaties van de natuur en haar mogelijkheden de mens te evolueren. Zij werken met het thema ecologie.

Chris Kievid is een ontwerper/kunstenaar uit Rotterdam en oprichter van ‘Interactivist’, een ontwerppraktijk die bekend staat om het creëren van onderscheidende, sociaal bewuste ervaringen. Kievids passie en expertise ligt op het samenvloeien van design, technologie en architectuur, hij houdt zich bezig met licht.

Kunstenaar Paul Devens gaat in dit visietraject een klankkunstwerk ontwikkelen binnen het audio thema. Hij gaat hierbij uit van de samenhang van geluid, akoestiek en architectuur en met het onderzoek van de plek en haar geschiedenis.

Kunstenaar Pip Passchier maakt sculpturen en installaties met een speels karakter, die het publiek uitdagen de interactie aan te gaan. Ze nodigt de toeschouwer uit om zich actief te verhouden tot haar werk en te ‘spelen’ met haar installaties. Passchier houdt zich bezig met het thema symbiose.

De komende weken zullen alle kunstenaars werken aan hun visie die in december gepresenteerd zal worden. In de tussentijd zullen we via onze socials updates geven.

The art vision trajectory for the Wilhelminapark started last week with a sunny autumn walk. Together with the selected artists and various involved residents of the park, a fresh start has been made on developing a new vision for art within the themes; flora and fauna, light, audio and symbiosis.

There were many responses to the Open Call that closed on September 4th, which made the selection process extra difficult. We are pleased to introduce the artists to you.

Artist collective de Onkruidenier was founded in 2013 and the team consists of Jonmar van Vlijmen, Rosanne van Wijk and Ronald Boer. The collective explores historical, cultural and potential transformations of nature and its potential for human evolution. They work within the ecology theme.

Chris Kievid is a designer/artist from Rotterdam and founder of ‘Interactivist’, a design practice known for creating distinctive, socially conscious experiences. Kievid’s passion and expertise lies in the convergence of design, technology and architecture, he will work within the light theme.

Artist Paul Devens will develop a sound artwork within the audio theme. To develop this he engages in the connections between sound, acoustics and architecture and on the research of the park and its history.

Artist Pip Passchier creates sculptures and installations with a playful character, which challenge the audience to interact. She invites the viewer to actively relate to her work and to ‘play’ with her installations. Passchier will work within the symbiosis theme.
